Engineering A/Honors
My course description: Engineering short sheet The Massachusetts DOE website has a complete description of the state framework for Science & Technology . Google classroom code is sjuqn35

Attendance: for more information on my tardiness policy, see the FAQ page
Missed Classwork/Labs: for more information on my makeup policy, see the FAQ page Classwork and Labs are worth 50% of your grade!
Missed Quizzes/Tests for more information on my makeup policy, see the FAQ page Quizzes and Tests are worth 40% of your grade!

If you have an excused absence, make sure you note this on any work you hand in after its due date, or it will be assumed to be late work!Unexcused absences (no parent call in or other reason listed on the portal)will result in a zero for missed work or assessments!

Documents in my Outbox are MS-Word documents: to print correctly, DO NOT print as a Google doc!

COLOR KEY: material we have covered or are about to cover old material that is tentatively, or has not been, scheduled ㊙ notes to myself about material for next year

2
Puzzle project
Students began designing their own puzzle tube 1.0
Gather materials and tools to build a prototype tube

3

Students built first prototype puzzle tube. Analyzed for design weaknesses, developed solutions.
Gather materials and tools to build second prototype
What is the evolution of intelligent design?
4
Engineering Design Process
Students built second prototype puzzle tube. Analyzed for design weaknesses, developed solutions and applied solutions. Reviewed the Engineering Design Process (EDP)

5

Introduced the Puzzle Tube 2.0 for Honors students
Tested prototypes with preschool. Used EDP to evaluate and figure out final design modifications.
Honors students attempt to figure out the inner workings of the Puzzle Tube 2.0

6

Students completed final prototypes of puzzle Tube 1.0; Honors students begin the EDP for Puzzle tube 2.0
Honors students continue EDPing puzzle tube 2.0. Due by Sept 26

17

Students begin designing an organizer.

18
Design & Manufacturing
Students scored their own quiz. Were introduced to BlocksCAD, online computer-aided design. Used remaining time to continue design ideas for organizer.

19
Manufacturing
We went to the wood shop and were introduced to the machines and shop safety by master machinist Mr. Tassone
Continue designing, using the EDP, their organizer.

20

Began 4 view orthographic & isometric engineering drawings of organizer

21

Continued detailed designs for organizer

22

Designs were presented; critiqued by Mr. Tassone, then students went back and revised.

23

Groups added details to their engineering drawings; added details to their materials list.
